Trees in Transit (Dec 2025)

Over the last few years in the run-up to Christmas, I’ve found myself mesmerised by people transporting their newly purchased Christmas trees on their bikes. It’s a very impressive sight which is sometimes even a bit comical! I’m often caught off guard when it happens, but this year I wanted to capture some of these seasonal moments as a street photography project observing daily life.

I identified a few selling spots and started loitering around them, which was honestly a bit awkward! But there’s a distinct atmosphere in the run-up to Christmas, with the weather turning colder, nights growing longer, oliebollen carts appearing and people buying gifts. Christmas trees are very much part of that shift, quietly signalling the start of something festive.​
