Bare Branches (Feb 2026)

After the lights, decorations and the festive atmosphere of Christmas and New Year, the stretch from January to March always feels like one of the hardest. There’s a certain bleakness to this part of winter with the short days, the bitter temperatures and the ever-present threat of snow/ice!​ The bare branches are something I always notice. Stark and skeletal, yet quietly beautiful in their own right. It’s hard to imagine the leaves ever returning and that spring is just round the corner.
